Combining Family and Career
Advice, Support, Assistance
Modern staff policy must cater for the personal circumstances of every individual today more than ever before. It is one of our special concerns that it should be possible to combine family and career. We therefore provide appropriate working conditions and advice for our employees.
Every woman scientist has a different set of personal circumstances and every male researcher has different requirements when it comes to working hours and workplace. We try to create conditions that can cater for everyone.
Flexible working hours
Whether relations require nursing or children need minding – female employees and their husbands can benefit from a number of different options. Reduced working hours have become as common and as normal as teleworking. Teleworkers can work up to 60 % of their total working hours from their desks at home. A welcome trend: more and more men are availing of this opportunity because they want to take care of their families. Four out of ten teleworkers are currently men.
Childcare right next door
If both parents work and also have irregular working hours, as is frequently the case with research work, reliable childcare is worth its weight in gold.
Your children will be well looked after in the "Kleine Füchse" day-care centre, located right next door to Forschungszentrum Jülich, especially since it’s important for parents to be close to their children.
All-day care is offered for babies from the age of four months and schoolchildren up to the age of 14.
Half-day places for children under the age of three and a varied holiday programme for primary schoolchildren offers opportunities that parents and children can only dream of elsewhere.
If it is not possible to accommodate all the children at the day-care centre, our Equal Opportunities Bureau will be glad to suggest reliable child minders.
