Support for Young Scientists
Supporting young scientists is part of Forschungszentrum Jülich's philosophy.
In order to attract young people to science and research in the long term, you have to start small. This is the reason why Forschungszentrum Jülich begins with children, offering a range of teaching and learning activities.
The JuLab Schools Laboratory is open to classes of school children with their teachers and children still at playschool with their parents. Here, the kids can perform their own experiments and learn about different science topics.
The work placements offered by Jülich for children still at school are also popular – for example, opportunities to see what a job actually involves.
University students can profit from our close cooperations with partner universities and write their dissertations at Jülich.
Doctoral researchers (PhD students) receive excellent specialized supervision over a period of three years. They are also given opportunities to take on responsibility right from the start.
We support postdocs in creating independent young investigators' groups and we offer heads of these groups tenure. Heads of such groups are selected in competitive processes and vacant positions are advertised internationally as required.
