Work Experience for School Students
Do you want to get a taste of the working world while still at school? Do you want to learn a trade when you're finished school but you're not sure what yet? Do you want to go on to university after school and gain work experience in parallel? No problem! At Forschungszentrum Jülich, you have the opportunity to do all of these things.
Work placements for school students
School students can avail of work placements at Forschungszentrum Jülich in a number of the institutes and in the area of administration. This allows them to gain an insight into everyday working life.
Forschungszentrum Jülich offers different vocational training programmes. Once you have completed your school leaving certificate, you can apply to Jülich for a position as a trainee in the areas of business management, mathematics and technology or in one of the natural sciences. In 2008, we had a total of 357 trainees here at Jülich. We had technical draftsmen, laboratory assistants and mathematical-technical software developers, as well as a variety of trainees in the areas of business management, electrical occupations and metal working.
Dual study programmes
If you have completed your school leaving certificate, you can avail of the opportunity to pursue a dual study programme at Jülich: combine vocational training with a university course in business management, in mathematics and technology, or in chemistry. In this way, you will receive two qualifications instead of just one.
The courses offered are conducted in close cooperation with local universities including FOM University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Campus Jülich, and Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences.
You will find further information on these programmes on the webpages of our Vocational Training Centre:
