PET and MRI

Transversal (top) and coronal (bottom) PET and MR images of a patient with a brain tumour (arrow). The PET images in the middle column and the MR images in the right-hand column were recorded using the new 3-T MR-PET hybrid scanner. Compared to the images recorded using the former older PET scanner (left-hand column), the hybrid scanner provides better resolution. Furthermore, the images clearly prove that a hybrid scanner does not lead mutual disturbances between PET and MRI. The PET images were taken after the radioactively labelled amino acid 18F-fluorine-ethyl-tyrosine was injected.
