End-of-Year Lecture 2014: Ion Migration

The Jülich end-of-year keynote lecture, which took place yesterday evening in the Rhineland Regional Museum (LVR-LandesMuseum), focused on data storage devices of the future and areas where they might be applied. This year’s Leibniz Prize winner Prof. Rainer Waser gave approximately 350 guests from politics, science, and industry insights into his research.

Recognition of young scientists' achievements: during the "JuDocs 2014 – Karriere made in Jülich" ceremony on Saturday, Forschungszentrum Jülich presented fourty-seven young researchers who completed their PhD this year with a commemorative certificate.

End-of-Year Lecture 2013: Research in 3D

Prof. Dieter Willbold and Jun.-Prof. Birgit Strodel offered their audience in-depth insights into the microcosm of proteins. During their keynote lecture, the two researchers revealed how protein molecules function like tiny machines in our body’s cells. Using spectacular images and animations, they also demonstrated the consequences arising from damage to these ‘molecular engines’.

Recognition of young scientists' achievements: during the "JuDocs 2013 – Karriere made in Jülich" ceremony on Saturday, Forschungszentrum Jülich presented thirty-four young researchers who completed their PhD this year with a commemorative certificate. The focus of the event was internationality in science and research.

Jülich’s End-of-Year Lecture 2012

Global climate, brain research and energy research are just three of the areas in which supercomputer simulations have become indispensable. In his keynote lecture before an invited audience of representatives from politics, science and industry as well as employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich at LVR-LandesMuseum in Bonn, Prof. Thomas Lippert spoke about how supercomputers have changed science, the part they play today and what new insights they make possible.

Recognition of young scientists' achievements: during the “JuDocs – Karriere made in Jülich” ceremony on Saturday, Forschungszentrum Jülich presented forty-three young researchers who completed their PhD this year with a commemorative certificate. The new PhDs thus joined the long list of successful Jülich alumni.
