In 2012, Forschungszentrum Jülich's third-party funding totalled € 172,000,000, representing an increase of € 11,900,000 compared to 2011 (€ 160,300,000). Most of this income from third parties resulted from research and development activities for industry, the acquisition of funding from Germany and abroad, plus project management on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
