Sino-German Project on electrochemical processes for Clean Water production

It has been shown before that the coupling of electrochemistry with mass spectrometry can act as an appropriate model system to elucidate the metabolism of chemicals in the environment. In addition it was shown that chemical reactions of such metabolites with model substances for soil organic matter are possible, as shown also with model reactions. In the current Stepp we want to compare photo oxidation with electrochemical oxidation to receive mechanistic understanding for suggestions for water cleaning. As a basis fort his comparison we will use the toxicological effects of the metabolites. The results than might lead to suggestions for water clean up that can be scaled up to real world water processing.
