Degree: Diploma in psychology

Research Topics:

Neurocognition of language and language disorders

The faculty of language is a core variable for psycho-social integration and socio-economic status. My work focuses on the neurofunctional basis of language processing, i.e. the functional specialisation of circumscribed brain areas and their network-like interactions. The novel findings allow comparisons with impaired language processing in patients with aphasia caused by stroke (vascular aphasia) or neurodegeneration (primary progressive aphasia) and children and adults with developmental reading disorders (dyslexia). The aim of this translational research is the development of novel or improved concepts for targeted therapeutic intervention. My work is supported by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Research Methods:

  • Functional magnetic resonance imaging
  • Neuropsychological tests
  • Neurolinguistic tests
  • Experimental psychological paradigms
