Europe’s Fastest Computer Inaugurated at Jülich

Jülich, 14 February 2013 – Jülich’s new supercomputer JUQUEEN was inaugurated at Forschungszentrum Jülich today in the presence of representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (MIWF). The supercomputer is currently the fastest in Europe and has a peak performance of 5.9 petaflops, that means about six quadrillion (1015) arithmetic operations per second.
