14th International Conference on Plasma-Facing Materials and Components for Fusion Applications in Jülich

Jülich, 8 May 2013 – Choosing suitable wall materials is one of the key challenges in constructing future fusion reactors. More than 200 scientists will meet in Jülich on 13–17 May to discuss which materials are best able to withstand the extreme conditions in vacuum vessels. The results of the conference organized by Forschungszentrum Jülich will be incorporated into the planning of the ITER fusion reactor, for example, which represents the next big step in fusion research. A decision is due to be made this year on lining the ITER vacuum vessel.
