How Coronavirus Lockdowns and Climate Change Are Linked

On Monday, 9 August 2021, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will present the first part of its new assessment report, which summarizes the current scientific knowledge on the physical science basis of climate change. Jülich’s atmospheric researcher Astrid Kiendler-Scharr is the lead author of the chapter “Short-lived Climate Forcers” in the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. In an interview, Kiendler-Scharr, who is also chairwoman of the Board of the German Climate Consortium (DKK), provides an insight into the significance of short-lived climate forcers.
