Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Co: Putting a Stop to Fibril Growth

Jülich/Düsseldorf, 20 October 2020 – Clumps of protein building blocks (fibrils) are strongly suspected to cause a series of illnesses. A team of biophysicists at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) and Forschungszentrum Jülich has examined how to inhibit the growth of these pathogenic fibrils. In a recent online publication of Chemical Science, they describe a special molecule that is able to stick the ends of the fibrils together.
