In the Institute for Energy and Climate Research - Techno-economic Systems Analysis (IEK-3) we investigate how a sustainable energy system can be achieved and what this could look like. Towards this end, we develop diverse techno-economic models which take an integrated view, spanning local to global energy systems, to identify possible solutions for energy systems transformation. To increase the transparency and comprehensibility of the solutions identified, more and more models with their own user interfaces are being made available to the public. These user interfaces enable decision-makers to develop economically and ecologically sustainable strategies, and allow modelers and researchers to easily build on top of the work of those who came before.

Fullstack-Developer

Your Job:

  • Familiarization with existing models of the department
  • Systematic integration of the models into the institute`s server architecture and, if applicable, development of the server architecture
  • Conception, implementation and development of new or extension of existing web-based user interfaces for methods and models relating to energy system research
  • Test and documentation of the interfaces
  • Support in analyzing requirements and co-design of solution concepts
  • Web-based visualization of research data, supporting exploratory analysis and, if applicable, development of new visualization methods
  • Writing recyclable code for sustainable use
  • Continuous personal development in a dynamic working environment

Your Profile:

  • Ideally a completed masters degree in IT; alternatively a completed bachelors degree or vocational training in IT
  • Practical experience in frontend web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Knowledge with component-based JavaScript web frameworks for front-end development (VueJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of container solutions (Docker, Kubernetes etc.)
  • Knowledge of Python-based web frameworks (Django, Flask) is advantageous
  • Good feeling for web design and user experience
  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis, and web-based visualization techniques si advantageous (Ex. GoogleMaps, Mapbox, ect…)
  • Distinct ability to cooperate and organisational skills with a high level of initiative and willingness to learn
  • Profound knowledge of English, written and spoken; German language skills are advantageous
