Full Professor (W3) in Innovation and Transformation Processes with a Focus on Energy
School of Business and Economics

At the earliest possible date, we intend to appoint a qualified individual to represent this subject in research and teaching. The main area of research should be innovation/diffusion of technologies for a sustainable transformation of the energy system. In the medium term, relevant issues of the bioeconomy should also be addressed in the IEK-STE. Your focus will be on economic and social topics with applications in the energy sector and in the bioeconomy. The use of quantitative models and mathematical methods is an important element of your research. Expertise in computational socio-economic sciences is therefore required. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have established a record of excellence in research, demonstrated in particular by publications in highly ranked journals. You are able to establish, maintain and efficiently use collaboration networks within our organizations and within your research community. Strong integration and communication skills with respect to the scientific and political environment are of great importance for the impact of your research on society. You will already have an extensive record of teaching experience at bachelor and master level. Your research activities will be carried out in close cooperation with the research priorities of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research and the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich. We also expect cooperation in research and teaching with the School of Business and Economics at RWTH Aachen University according to the "Jülicher Model". Furthermore, collaborations in the profile areas of RWTH Aachen, particularly in the profile area "Energy, Chemical & Process Engineering (ECPE)“, are highly welcome.

A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
