Associate (W2) Professorship in Big Data Analytics for Microscopic Images

We are looking for a candidate who has acquired extensive knowledge in large-scale processing, 3D reconstruction and analysis of microscopic images, preferably from the field of neuroscience, using modern computer vision and machine learning methods, and who can demonstrate an independent contribution in this field and represent this area in research and teaching at a high level. The focus should be on establishing robust deep learning methods with minimal supervision in a high-throughput environment that couples data acquisition, distributed data management, and parallelization with a scalable computing infrastructure. Consequently, we also expect relevant expertise in neuroinformatics and experience in interacting with stakeholders of computing infrastructures. Candidates are expected to work in an international collaborative environment. They must have an internationally recognised research profile, a proven track record in high-level publications, and demonstrable success in the acquisition and management of third-party funding.

A strong commitment to academic teaching is expected with proven teaching experience in the areas of computer science, image analysis, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning and related subjects.

Applicants will be hired in accordance with the general prere-quisites pertaining to service law of section 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Hochschulgesetz NRW) which require an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
