I give an introduction on the the path integral formalism and its numerical application (via lattice Monte Carlo) to strongly interacting phenomena in two areas of physics: a) the emergence of nuclei from quarks and gluons and b) the effects of strongly correlated electrons in low-dimensional systems. I comment on the possibility of applying this formalism in other areas of science.
