Dielectric spectroscopy (DS) a.k.a. impedance spectroscopy is a suitable tool to explore molecular mobility for materials containing permanent dipoles or ions. It measures the complex dielectric constant ε*(ω), the response of the material under influence of an alternating electrical field. Materials that can be studied by DS range from crystalline materials (e.g. ferroelectrics) to biological systems (e.g. tissue cells). A large field of application are polymers and glass-forming materials where the method is especially suited due to its large dynamic range (mHz...GHz). In the presentation a DS measurement of a polymer film will be demonstrated.

This lab visit will be offered twice, from 9:15am to 10:45 and from 11:00am to 12:30pm. When you register, please pay attention to the starting time.
