Garden Optimization Problems: A practical introduction to programming quantum annealers

The PGI Science Office has begun a new series of seminars: the "Jülich Quantum Computing Seminar" will take place every fortnight on Tuesdays at 15:00 via video conference and is intended to promote cooperation between the working groups conducting research in the field of quantum computing and quantum information at various institutes at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Abstract: 

 In this talk we will give a gentle introduction to programming quantum  annealers manufactured by D-Wave Systems Inc. The usage of quantum  annealers is illustrated using a class of problems developed within our  group: the garden optimization problems. This talk is intended to be a  step by step practical guide from conceiving a suitable problem for a  quantum annealer, to understanding how to map the problem onto the  device and tuning relevant parameters, to analyzing the results.
