The “International Workshop on Low Energy Electron Diffraction and Related Techniques” (called SPA-LEED workshop) is the ninth workshop of this kind within more than 20 years. It follows on previous events in Schloss Wohldenberg (1996 and 1999), Bremen (2008), Osnabrück (2009), Enschede (2011), Bonn (2013), Hannover (2015) and Mülheim an der Ruhr (2016). This series of workshops is not only dedicated to the Spot Profile Analysis Low Energy Electron Diffraction (SPA-LEED) technique that was developed at the University of Hannover in the 1980s, but it also covers related electron diffraction and even electron imaging techniques. It is a regular, informal meeting for researchers who apply these techniques to surface science problems.
The upcoming workshop will be organized by Christian Kumpf and his team from the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI-3) at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. The workshop location is Haus Humboldtstein close to Remagen, Germany.
