Active promotion of women in science and leadership positions

Forschungszentrum Jülich wants to attract more women to science and is committed to providing girls still at school with career guidance that is free of stereotypes when it comes to information on STEM careers and courses of study. In addition, we create the necessary framework to support and encourage our women colleagues as best we can, while also implementing measures and initiatives to ensure that all employees have equal opportunities to pursue their desired career paths.

The Gender Equality Plan (PDF) is a combination of goals, measures, and initiatives in five fields of action aiming to provide all employees with equal and fair opportunities to achieve their goals and career aspirations – regardless of their gender.

The Helmholtz Association has a programme for first-time professorial appointments (W2/W3) that is specifically aimed at highly talented women scientists. Further information can be found here.

Applicants and employees with a disability

People with disabilities or those with a similar status are more than welcome here. Our representatives for employees with disabilities at Forschungszentrum Jülich provide comprehensive support. We are also well networked and work together with regional bodies, such as local inclusion offices.

Reconciling work with caring for a relative

Employees caring for family members in addition to their job can benefit from numerous measures at Forschungszentrum Jülich to reconcile work and family life. Further information can be found here.

A close partnership in research, teaching, and science management unites Forschungszentrum Jülich, the University of Cologne, RWTH Aachen University, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, and the German Aerospace Center. Together, we are actively committed to diversity, a plurality of perspectives, and equal opportunities.

The Joint Guidelines on Equal Opportunities (PDF; in German) create the framework conditions to ensure that the institutions involved are open to everyone, irrespective of their personal circumstances or social background. The aim is to promote an organizational culture in which individual, social, and cultural diversity is considered an asset and a sign of quality.

Equal Opportunities Bureau

The Equal Opportunities Bureau (BfC) focuses on the issues of work-life balance, gender mainstreaming, and diversity & inclusion. It advises all employees, leaders, and cooperation partners on these matters, implements numerous support measures, and thereby helps to shape a family-friendly and diversity-friendly corporate culture at Forschungszentrum Jülich based on equal opportunities. Applicants and interested parties can also address their questions and concerns to the BfC team.
