FAIRAgro – a new consortium in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI)
FAIRAgro – the second NFDI with contribution from plant scientists will start in March 2023
Agrosystems research produces many different types of research data (e.g. phenotyping data, satellite images, soil quality, yield etc.). In order to make these data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable the consortium FAIRAgro as part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) will provide a data infrastructure that will be adapted towards cross-disciplinary research.
A year ago, FAIRAgro handed in its proposal to the German Research Foundation (DFG). Recently, it was reported in a press release by the GWK that FAIRAgro will be funded from 2023-2027 by the DFG and will join the NFDI as one of 27 consortia.
The IBG-4 with Prof. Björn Usadel as co-speaker is already part of DataPLANT providing its experience in data management and plant sciences and Prof. Usadel will also be involved FAIRAgro as co-leader of Task Area 4 that is responsible for Infrastructure Services. Also the institute section IBG-2 for plant sciences with Prof. Dr. Uwe Rascher and Prof. Dr. U Schurr is a member of the FAIRAgro-consortium.
We are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration.
