ACTRiS
ACTRIS Services at more than 40 Facilities
ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure) is a pan-European research infrastructure producing high-quality data and information on atmospheric constituents. ACTRIS provides access to datasets and facilities for researchers from the academic and private sector.
The exploratory platforms offering transnational access (TNA) are representative for their uniqueness within Europe, offering a comprehensive measurement programme at the forefront of the advancement of research in the specific domains covered within ACTRIS (vertical aerosol distribution, in-situ aerosol properties, trace gases, cloud-aerosol observations) together with state-of-the-art equipment, high level of services, and capacity to provide research-driven training to young scientists and new users.
The institute hosts the exploratory platforms SAPHIR, SAPHIR-STAR and SAPHIR-PLUS.
The task of the central facilities is to safeguard the data quality of the measurement data by developing measurement guidelines, performing intercomparisons and offering training and consultancy. The central facilities also ensure the traceability of measurements and standards.
Within the Central laboratory for reactive trace gases in situ (CiGas) the institute operates the central calibration facilities for volatile organic compounds (FZJV) and nitrogen oxides (FZJN).
