                Research Priorities

Research at IEK-STE focuses on four key areas: "Energy systems as socio-technical configurations", "Energy systems and the land-water-energy nexus", "Energy infrastructures" and "Energy technologies and life cycles".

                a

                Methods and Models

Our approach is holistic, ranging from engineering to economics and the social sciences and making use of multidisciplinary methods. We develop computer-based models at different levels of the relevant energy systems. These include process chain approaches, economic and technical energy models, and agent-based and multi-criteria models as a basis for decision-making.

                Projects

IEK-STE has a share in a multitude of projects within the realms of energy systems research.
