Joint Paper of the Academies on Dementia Prevention
In a joint statement, the science academies have spoken out in favor of stronger “data-driven dementia prevention.” According to the joint press release by acatech, the Leopoldina, and the Union of Academies, comprehensive prevention focused on well-researched risk factors could prevent every second case of dementia. The head of the academies’ working group is Prof. Svenja Caspers from INM-1 and the University Hospital Düsseldorf.
In a joint interview, the researcher and working group member Prof. Bert Heinrichs from INM-7 and the University of Bonn explain how dementia can already be prevented today.
