Virtual Brain Cloud
The goal of the VirtualBrainCloud is a software in form of a cloud based computational modeling system that is tailored to the individual, and bridges multiple scales to identify key mechanisms that predict neurodegenerative disease progression and serves as Precision Decision Support System.
Together with 16 other European research institutions, the INM-7 founded the EU project VirtualBrainCloud with the objective to develop and a dedicated cloud-based environment that leverages the potential of big data and high-performance computing (HPC) for personalized prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases (NDD). The central goal of this project is the development of a cloud-based platform for biomedical research and clinical decision-making that helps to improve early patient-specific diagnosis and treatment of NDD and has substantial potential for significant positive socioeconomic impact. The VirtualBrainCloud not only integrates existing software tools and contribute to the development of new information and communication technology (ICT) services while ensuring the appropriate data safety and protection, but it also combines the efforts of two major EU initiatives, namely the Virtual Brain large-scale simulation platform of the EU flagship Human Brain Project and the IMI-EPAD initiative (European Prevention of Alzheimer's Dementia Consortium). INM-7 organises the data processing, workflow management and integration of existing knowledge. Dr. Felix Hoffstaedter will optimize the workflow of MRI image analysis tools to meet the application requirements in a clinical environment.
