If you have been successful in your application for a PhD position at Forschungszentrum Jülich or a funding programme, you will sign an agreement or contract with the funding organization or the relevant institute at Jülich.
Most of all doctoral researchers have an employment contract with Forschungszentrum Jülich. They are insured by a statutory social insurance scheme as well as a health insurance scheme and are entitled to recreational leave and parental leave. The detailed conditions depend on the nature of your contract. You can enquire about your individual conditions by contacting our staff at personnel support (Personalbetreuung) or during your interview.

Services for parents
Since 2010, Forschungszentrum Jülich has been certified as “family friendly”. You will thus benefit from flexible working hours and if you have children, they can attend the daycare centre on campus or in the immediate vicinity of Forschungszentrum Jülich.
As an employee, you are entitled to take parental leave when your child is born during your doctoral research period, as is detailed under the conditions of parental leave. Should you have any questions on parental leave, pregnancy, child care, or the reconciliation of work and family life, you are welcome to contact our staff at the Equal Opportunities Bureau (BfC).
