Brief description of the programme

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports in the frame of NanoMatFutur postdocs and early career scientists (2-5 years after PhD) in starting their own research group in the field of material science and engineering. Up to seven scientists are supported yearly with up to 1.95 Mio. Euro on their way to a leadership position in the academic field or the private economic sector.
With the slogan ‘From materials to innovation’ they highlight their focus on supporting research projects that have the potential for technology transfer and that require cooperation across the boundaries of the classical natural scientific disciplines.
Similarly, necessary research and development work in the run-up to the spin-off of "start-up" companies can be funded.

The programme is open to applicants from all fields related to material science and materials engineering.

All information are provided in German but international applicants have the chance to send their project proposal in English. Please get in touch with our contact person when planning your application.
