Joint Workshop FZ Jülich - RWTH Aachen - Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB-CSIR) New Delhi, 21-23 October 2024
Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich, RWTH Aachen University, and the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) gathered in New Delhi from October 21 to 23, 2024, for an international workshop on artificial intelligence (AI), structural biology, and genomics. Supported by the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH New Delhi), this workshop and symposium aimed to foster collaboration between German and Indian young researchers.
The theme, “Applications of AI and Data-Driven Approaches in Structural Biology,” provided a platform for scholars to exchange knowledge and methodologies, driving advancements in understanding biological structures. The local organizers were Prof. S. Maiti, Director, and Dr. L. Thukral. Participants included researchers from RWTH Aachen University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, CSIR-IGIB, IIT Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Shiv Nadar University and Ashoka University and NII Delhi, among others. From Forschungszentrum Jülich, Prof. Carsten Sachse, ER-C-3, and his colleagues Dr. Alexandros Katranidis and Dr. Sabrina Berkamp joined.
Forschungszentrum Jülich has long fostered a close collaborative exchange with scientists and institutions in India. This partnership spans a wide array of research projects and facilitates scientific dialogue between the two countries. Since its inception in 2012, FZJ has also supported the German Centre for Science and Innovation (DWIH) in New Delhi.
