DFG-Walter Benjamin-Programme for Refugees

7 April 2022

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) supports refugee researchers in applying for a position at a German research institution under the existing Walter Benjamin Programme. The funding objective is to integrate them into the German research system.

The programme accepts applications from all disciplines. The research subject can be freely chosen.

A prerequisite for the programme is that an individual agreement is reached in advance with a host institution on how this project can support the applicant's further career.

In addition to the fellowship, lump-sum funds for material and travel costs as well as publication costs amounting to 250 euros per month are provided (material cost allowance). The remaining funds required to carry out the project must be provided by the host institution.

Postdocs and experienced researchers are eligible to apply.

Duration of stay maximum two years

Applications can be submitted online at any time.
