Silvia De Rubeis seminar
Seminar Dr. Silvia De Rubeis
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a frequent neurodevelopmental disorder affecting up to 1% of the population and with a profound sex bias. Over the past years, enormous progresses have been made in our understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying this condition. Dr. De Rubeis' seminar will touch upon the genetic architecture of ASD, with emphasis on new discoveries on the role of rare genetic variation in risk. The seminar will then focus on a recently identified ASD risk gene, DDX3X, which is a significant contributor of risk in females. Dr. De Rubeis will discuss new discoveries her team has made in the first mouse model of DDX3X mutations.
