LLview AWI

The Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) maintains a NEC SX8-R supercomputer dedicated to climate and ocean research. It started operating in 2007 and consists of 14 compute nodes each having 8 SX-8R processors. LLview support for the batch system NQSII used on this machine was recently implemented by the site's system administrators. Since this batch system is not widely spread, the data adapter scripts were specifically implemented and can be included in the next LLview release. Due to the open-source nature of LLview and its modular architecture, adding support for a new batch system is simplified and also welcomed by the community. Providing LLview even for comparatively small supercomputers quickly pays off as users gain an overview of the system status and system administrators can easily validate and improve the batch system and scheduler configuration.
