Access to Jülich Supercomputing Centre and visitor information

Access to Forschungszentrum Jülich

To enter Forschungszentrum Jülich, you need a valid identification card (e.g. your passport) which contains a picture of yourself. On the first day, please go the "Visitor Reception" directly next to the main entrance (buses will stop there). We arranged that you will get a multi-day badge (BG Ausweis) which is then valid for the total duration of the course. Please explicitly ask for the multi-day pass by referring to the name of the course.

From the "Visitor Reception", it is a 8 minutes walk to Jülich Supercomputing Centre, see "How to reach JSC"

Disabled access, Childcare

The workshop venue and canteen are wheelchair accessible with the necessary facilities available.

JSC is also able to offer childcare for the duration of the workshop. If this is desired, please get in touch with any of the local organisers.

Hotels in Jülich

Jülich is a small city and there are not many hotel beds, so please reserve your rooms as early as possible!

There are a few more hotels, but these are the ones we normally use for lab guests.

How to get to Jülich

By car, by train, by plane

Please see the description and maps at "How to reach Forschungszentrum Jülich".

Buses from Aachen/Cologne and Jülich to Forschungszentrum Jülich

There is a public transport bus line (SB 20 or 220) which connects Aachen bus station via downtown Jülich with the Forschungszentrum roughly every half hour. The buses show the destination "SB20 Forschungszentrum Jülich". Another line (SB35) is more suitable coming from Cologne since it connects the S-Bahn station Merzenich and the research centre. Bus tickets are available from the bus driver.

There is also a bus connecting the Rurtalbahn train station "Forschungzentrum (RTB)" and Forschungszentrum Jülich, so it can be used to get from this regional train station to/from the Forschungszentrum Jülich.
