ALCUE-KBBE is the bi-regional project "Towards a Latin America and the Caribbean Knowledge Based Bio Economy in partnership with Europe", financed by the European Community under FP7, which aims to establish an EU-LAC platform to generate relevant information for the design and implementation of policies, plans and projects that enable the development and consolidation of the bioeconomy in the LAC region. The project is carried out by a consortium of 12 institutions from Europe and Latin America, with CIRAD as the general project coordinator.
In the framework of the (WP2) project activities, a first consultation workshop “Constructing a Latin American and Caribbean Bioeconomy” is organized aiming to present and analyze the existing experiences and the principal opportunities and limitations for the Bioeconomy in the LAC region. Stakeholders from different bioeconomy involved fields such as Biotechnologies, Biorefineries, Biodiversity, etc. from private and public sectors and coming from Europe and LAC, will meet and discuss together and formulate a vision and most appropriate scenarios and pathways for the implementation of the Bioeconomy in the LAC region.
