The dynamic response of plants to a changing environment

iGrad Plant P8 Shoot and Root Growth Dynamics

How are shoot and root growth dynamics regulated by the interaction of endogenous control networks and dynamic temperature variations throughout 24 h?

Root and leaf growth dynamics of A. thaliana and of other important model plants or crop species will be investigated using imaging-based growth analy-ses. Gene x environment interactions will be studied by exposing interesting plant lines to a range of dynamically altering environmental conditions.

This work will help to

  • Understand how plants acclimate to the environment
  • Improve growing and breeding strategies for crop plants
  • Elucidate the connection of regulatory networks and biomass production
