Ceramic Matrix Composites Team

The aim of the group is to develop Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) to increase the operating temperature of power generation systems. The CMCs are mainly based on MAX phase matrices reinforced with short fibers, although other ceramic systems are also investigated. Synthesis of the MAX phases, processing, densification and properties at high temperature are the main priorities of the group. Near net shaping techniques are used to produce large and complex components.
