Magnetic nanoparticles

Magnetic nanoparticles are currently in the focus of intense research activities. This is not only due to their use in practical applications e.g. as theranostic agents in medicine or as ferrofluids in engineering technologies, but also due to their role as fundamental model systems for nanoscale phenomena.

Magnetic Nanoparticles (a) TEM image of Au-Fe3O4 dumbbell nanoparticles (b) 2D small angle neutron scattering (SANS) pattern of the dumbbell nanoparticles showing the ordering of the particles in an applied magnetic field. (c) High resolution TEM image of an iron oxide nanoparticle. (d) Characteristic pattern of the nuclear-magnetic interference term obtained as a difference between spin channels of a SANS experiment with polarized neutrons.
