Neutrons: A Look at Complexity

Neutrons enable us to gaze deep into the heart of matter. This does not only show us how atoms and molecules are arranged but also how they move, how they interact and how they combine to form the substances that determine our lives. As the building blocks of atomic nuclei, neutrons are the ideal probes for investigating crystals, membranes and other systems at the atomic level. In his keynote speech at the 2010 end-of-year ceremony in the Rhineland Regional Museum (LVR-LandesMuseum) in Bonn in December 2010, Prof. Dieter Richter gave exciting insights into the far-reaching opportunities offered by neutron research to representatives of science, industry and politics.
