Forschungszentrum Jülich offers exceptional conditions for postdocs. Our outstanding infrastructure provides the basis for excellent research and international visibility while also offering young scientists the best possible opportunities for attractive positions both within and outside of the scientific community.

Leaders in Cutting-Edge Research

The postdoctoral period is an important career phase as it is a time in which the course is set for future career development. With the guidelines for advising and supporting postdocs, Forschungszentrum Jülich aims to make transparent the framework conditions and qualifications necessary for the postdocs' own academic profile and active career planning. Also on the level of the whole Helmholtz Association, the importance of supporting postdocs in their career planning is clearly demonstrated by the guidelines for the postdoc phase within the Helmholtz Association adopted in April 2018.The implementation is supported by the Jülich Career Center, which is the central contact point for postdocs of the Forschungszentrum and provides various offers for career development, counseling, orientation and networking for postdocs and doctoral researchers in their last year before their doctorate.

The personnel development plan for postdocs can provide an orientation for structured career development in cooperation between postdoc and superior.

Internationally outstanding postdocs will have the opportunity to establish their own young investigators group in Jülich. Forschungszentrum Jülich also supports close links between young investigators group leaders and university partners.

For group leaders already established at Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Forschungszentrum offers trainings designed to set the course for current and future career planning in science.
