All Eyes on Molecular Emergency Brake

Jülich, 8 November 2011 – The human eye is extremely adaptable. It can "see" in dazzling sunlight as well as in twilight and during the night. To do so, it makes use of two sensitive types of sensory cells: cones and rods. How the eye ensures that two very different systems interact optimally and thus prevents sensitivity to glare is what researchers from Jülich have investigated together with colleagues from Tübingen, Oldenburg and Dublin.
