Hydrogen Storage Indispensable for Energiewende

Researchers from Jülich present recent developments at the fuel cell conference f-cell on 12–14 October in Stuttgart (stand 2C12)

Jülich, 8 October 2015 – Simply expanding renewable energy is not enough. Wind and solar power fluctuates strongly. The energy system can therefore only be transformed if suitable storage technologies are implemented. Hydrogen is particularly suited for this. It has a high energy density, stores well, and can be converted back into electrical energy efficiently in fuel cells. At f-cell, scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich will present the latest solutions for energy storage using hydrogen, including novel electrolysers that can produce the energy carrier using excess renewable energy.
