Novel strategies using multidimensional approaches for the analysis of complex biological systems

The Young Investigators Group focuses on the instrumental development of a modular analytical platform. It is based on multidimensional electromigrative separation techniques coupled to a set of detection systems including optical and conductivity detection and mass spectrometry. The major task is to design and optimize the novel modular platform, which requires a full comprehension of all analytical features present. With our modular concept we will be able to quickly adopt our optimized methodology to analytical questions from metabolomics and proteomics as well as forensic science. Application examples are the glycosylation analysis of human and recombinant proteins and the alkaloid profiling of active substances in illegal drug seizures.
