3D Reconstruction of a Human Brain
View inside a 3D reconstruction of a human brain. The different colours show different courses of the neuronal fibre tracts. Fibres form the basis for networks of neurons enabling the various brain functions. Using the three-dimensional polarized light imaging method developed at Jülich's Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-1), it is possible to visualize even the tiniest fibre tracts (shown here as three-dimensional tubes) with a previously unattainable level of detail.
