Scientific Infrastructure

Cutting-edge research is only possible with the support of an excellent scientific infrastructure. Jülich engineers develop and build unique instruments and tailor-made devices for scientists involved in experimental research and they develop new measuring methods and specific analysis techniques for use in dementia research, in the further development of fuel cells and also in environmental research in China.

You can visit one of the following areas:

Central Institute for Technology

The Central Institute for Technology develops and fabricates scientific and technical devices, facilities and processes for world-class research. Their precision designs are used in neutron research, ion research, spectrometers for medical research or for measuring systems in aircraft deployed for climate research. New materials with special properties developed at Jülich are also required in the field of energy, for example for power plant turbine coatings. Engineers and scientists work hand in hand in order to achieve the desired results and tailor them as needed.

Central Division of Analytical Chemistry

The Central Division of Analytical Chemistry is another scientific and technical facility of Forschungszentrum Jülich. It offers a variety of methods that are used in very diverse fields, for example in health research. Analysis techniques can be used, for example, to determine the distribution of metals in the brain, which allows conclusions to be drawn for research on dementia. For environmental research, ZCH analyses the degradation products and pathways of different xenobiotics in the Yangtze River in China.
Please note: This tour requires specialist knowledge in chemistry.

Central Library

The comprehensive scientific library on campus guarantees the availability of high-quality and up-to-date literature and information for all disciplines and divisions. The Central Library provides services in the fields of documentation, publication, translation, information management and information science. It maintains records of all the scientific publications by Jülich researchers and is home to Forschungszentrum Jülich’s own publishing house.
