About me
Marco Oldiges received diploma in chemistry with major in technical chemistry from University of Bonn (Germany). Promotion at University Bonn / Forschungszentrum Jülich in 2004 in the field of metabolic and bioprocess engineering combined with metabolomics for microbial phenylalanine production. Head of ´Bioprocesses and Bioanalytics´ group at Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-1: Biotechnology) since 2005. Prize to promote up-and-coming teachers in higher education from German society for chemical technology and biotechnology (Hochschullehrernachwuchspreis, Dechema e.V.) in 2007. Associate professorship for Bioprocess Analytics at RWTH Aachen University and Head of ´Bioprocesses and Bioanalytics´ at Forschungszentrum Jülich since 2011. Research interest comprise development and application of parallelized automated microscale cultivation workflows supported by lab robotics. This includes digitalization of experimental and data processing workflows and application of design-of-experiments and decisison-making strategies for strain selection and bioprocess optimization. This is supported by omics technologies with a focus on targeted and untargeted metabolomics by LC-MS.
