Materials Mechanics
Extensive basic research on the relationship between microstructure and mechanical characteristics of materials is applied to produce essential contributions to the further development of more efficient and more flexible energy conversion processes. To the main research interests are steels for power plants and fuel cells, high-temperature resistant (super) alloys, structural ceramics, ion and electron conductive functional ceramics, insulation layer systems for gas turbines, additive manufactured materials for advanced and sustainable alloys development and nanostructured reactive solder joints. By means of application-oriented investigation in DFG, BMBF, BMWI and FVV founded projects and within bilateral research cooperation with prestigious industrial partners, the scientific results are directly transferred to practical application.
