Technical assistant with a focus on specimen preparation
Your Job:
Our research projects require a wide range of specialized preparation techniques, tailored to the needs of each specific experiment.
- Preparation of ultrathin, electron-transparent TEM specimens using conventional methods (e.g. ultramicrotomy, mechanical thinning, ion polishing)
- Fabrication of TEM lamellae using focused ion beam (FIB) techniques (both gallium and plasma FIB), including technical support of the FIB systems
- Active participation in international research projects in close collaboration with scientific users
- Co-development and optimization of new sample preparation techniques
- Support in general technical operations of the laboratories (e.g. maintenance of equipment, technical assistance in daily operations)
Your Profile:
- Completed technical training / apprenticeship as a physics laboratory technician, materials tester, technical assistant in materials analysis, or a comparable qualification with a focus on physical and technical work
- Excellent fine motor skills, patience and strong concentration
- Independent, precise and responsible working style
- Interest in modern sample preparation and microscopy techniques
- Team player with willingness to work in an international research environment
- Good command of English is an advantage

We offer you an exciting and varied role in an international and interdisciplinary working environment. The position is for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
