Methodology Lab

About

The holistic modelling of the energy sector, material flows and social acceptance of technologies and measures leads to a high level of complexity in our system analyses. The Methodology Lab team develops methods for the model-endogenous integration of diverse, often non-linear, system aspects such as learning effects, resource requirements or social acceptance, as well as for reducing complexity while taking model accuracy into account, e.g. by means of mathematical aggregation and decomposition methods or artificial intelligence methods. This enables the accelerated calculation and answering of the most innovative research questions in the field of system analysis.

Research Topics

The research topics include the development of acceleration processes, the quantification of social factors and the implementation of learning effects.
