Intel and Forschungszentrum Jülich Join Forces to Accelerate Innovation in Key Areas

Jülich, Germany – July 5, 2024

Forschungszentrum Jülich, a leading European research center, and Intel, a global technology leader, announced a strategic collaboration agreement to accelerate innovation across information, energy, and bioeconomy – key research areas for Forschungszentrum Jülich.

This groundbreaking partnership will see Intel gain access to a wealth of intellectual property through non-exclusive licenses for selected patents held by Forschungszentrum Jülich. These patents hold the potential to unlock significant advancements in areas like digitization and information processing, paving the way for next-generation products and solutions.

Expanding Access to Groundbreaking Research

The agreement marks a significant milestone for both organizations. Forschungszentrum Jülich becomes the first European research institution to participate in Intel's established Patent Subscription Program, ensuring broader utilization of their research while fostering open knowledge exchange.

Furthermore, Forschungszentrum Jülich retains the flexibility to license these patents to other partners, promoting widespread adoption of their research discoveries. This collaborative approach underscores the commitment of both parties to drive innovation for a better future.

Shared Vision for a Sustainable Tomorrow

"This collaboration embodies our shared vision of leveraging research and development to tackle the critical challenges of our time," said Dr. Christian Cremer, Head of the Innovation Division at Forschungszentrum Jülich. "By partnering with a technological powerhouse like Intel, we gain unprecedented opportunities to translate our research into real-world applications, creating a positive impact on society."

"The patents included in this agreement represent the culmination of exceptional research efforts by our esteemed scientists," Dr. Cremer continued. "We firmly believe they will empower Intel to develop groundbreaking products and solutions, further propelling advancements in our own research endeavours."
