Separation- and transfer technologies

In the foreground of this project are development and optimization of innovative methods for the provision of short lived radionuclides for the routine production of radiopharmaceuticals

During the production of radioactiv [18F]fluoride at the cyclotrone the radionuclide is attained in form of aequeous solution. However, for the use in radiopharmaceutical production a transfer of the [18F]fluoride in dry organic solvent is absolute necessary.

The development and optimization of efficient transfer technologies will be examined at the INM-5. This included the collection and modification of suitable materials, furhter procedural developments of existing methods and the modifcation of chemical components like solvent and phase transfer catalysts. The aim is a fast and efficient transfer of the radionuclide in a waterfree medium in order to optimize the radiopharmaceutical production.
