Ligand development

The representative focus of research of this group is on the development of "small molecule" ligands particularly for the adenosinergic system with the aim of non-invasive imaging of interesting biological targets with PET and SPECT using suitable radiolabelled derivatives.

The research group uses different approaches for the design of lead structures, their synthesis, derivatization, unambiguous identification, and structural analysis. The spectrum of applied techniques comprises various aspects of modern rational drug design and ranges from "classical" medicinal chemistry methods via the application of homologue principles and bioisosterism based strategies to retrometabolic approaches
